0351 -  Infantry Assault Marine

             Pvt- Sgt

The 0351 Infantry Assault Marine, formerly known as Assaultman, is the primary MOS for enlisted infantry Marines with specialized training in the employment of demolitions and shoulder fired rockets in a rifle company's assault sections.

The Infantry Assault Marine employs rockets, the Anti-Personnel Obstacle Breaching System (APOBS), and demolitions. Assault Marines provide rocket fire against fortified positions in support of the rifle squads, platoons, and companies within the infantry battalion.  Additionally, Assault Marines employ APOBS, demolitions, and breaching/infiltration techniques to facilitate infantry maneuver in the offense, and demolitions and expedient counter mobility measures in the defense.

Assault Marines are found in the assault sections of weapons platoons of the infantry rifle companies. Noncommissioned Officers are assigned as gunners, team, squad, and section leaders.  0351's receive specialized training in the implementation of shoulder fired rockets such as Mk 153 Shoulder-Launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon (SMAW), 84mm AT4 Rockets, M72 Light Anti-tank Weapon (LAW), various breaching and methods of entry techniques, and implementation of military demolitions such as TNT, C-4 Plastic Explosive, PETN DetCord, and initiation systems.  The 0351 works to help the infantry identify and eliminate enemy armor, vehicles, obstacles, and fortifications.  This MOS is part 0311 Rifleman, part 1371 Combat Engineer.

Marines will enter this MOS as an entry level MOS and be designated by the MOS 0300.  After they graduate Basic Infantry Marine Course, Infantry Training Battalion, School Of Infantry, Camp Pendleton, California or Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, they will move onto assaultman specific training. Assault Marines earn their MOS after they complete the Infantry Assault Marine Course at School Of Infantry, Camp Pendleton, California or Camp Lejeune, NC.

The 0351 MOS has been slated for elimination and redesignation over Fiscal Years 2021-2023.  Many of the responsibilities of this MOS will be reallocated to the 0311, 1371, and 0352 MOS fields.  This has been done to create the space for cyber and other technical capabilities to be organic to the infantry's rifle companies.  Marines may continue to enter the MOS through October of 2020 for active duty, and 2021 for reservists.  Marines in the MOS will redesignate as 0311's, and squad leaders may redesignate as 0365's.  The MOS designator will cease to exist at the end of FY2023 when the last assault sections are dissolved.

Prerequisites for this MOS include a GT score of 100 or higher, normal color vision, or vision  of 20/200 correctable to 20/20, and passing the initial strength test standards associated with the 0300 MOS.
